1. Are any of your products “All Natural”?
That depends on whose definition of “All Natural” you use. At present,
none of our products contain artificial ingredients. The FDA will not allow a
product to be called “All Natural” if natural ingredients are processed.
Almost all food ingredients undergo some processing to prepare them for use (think
sugar, flour, etc.). Coffeehouse Classics™ FOAM! and Coffeehouse Classics™ COFFEETAR Mocha Blender™ have no artificial ingredients in them.
2. You use whey protein concentrate and carrageenan
in your products. What are they?
Whey protein concentrate is natural protein derived from milk. We’ve added
protein to Coffeehouse Classics™ FOAM! to increase the volume of foam.
These proteins also help the foam last longer without imparting any fat. Carrageenan
is derived completely from plants and also helps the foam last longer.
3. Can you heat FOAM!?
One of FOAM!’s most remarkable features is that it plumps
up just like steam-made milk foam when it is microwaved (Please
do not microwave the can). Simply top your preferred beverage
with our foam and microwave for approximately 15 to 20 seconds.
Let’s see whipped cream do that!
4. Can FOAM! be served cold?
Absolutely! Here’s what you’ve been waiting for: a fat free, low
carb alternative to whipped cream.
5. The Nutrition Facts Statement
says there are 66 servings per can of FOAM. Is that true?
First, let’s explain what a Nutrition Facts Statement is. In order to create
consistency in food labeling, the FDA requires all packaged foods to list the
Nutrition Facts on each package. It is the panel most of you are familiar with
which includes information regarding “Servings Per Container” and “Serving
Size”.
In order to make it easier for consumers to compare the Nutrition Facts of
similar products, the FDA has created food categories for each kind of packaged
food. Butter and Milk, for example, would fall into different categories. Each
category has a serving size also determined by the FDA. To continue with our
example, the FDA has established the serving size for butter at 1 tablespoon,
whereas a serving size for milk has been established at eight ounces. Therefore,
all brands of butter (or butter substitutes) will have the same serving size
(1 TBS.) as will all brands of milk (8 ounces).
In the case of Coffeehouse Classics™ FOAM!, we fall into the aerosol
whipped topping category. As a result, the FDA has established
our serving size as 2 tablespoons. Using this measurement
there are 66 servings per can. FOAM!, however, is not applied
as sparingly as whipped cream. It’s fat free after all!
So, you’ll want to use about an ounce of FOAM! per serving.
There are about 14 one-ounce servings per can.
6. Does Coffeehouse Classics™ FOAM! really have 5
calories or less per serving?
Yes, based on the FDA serving size that we must use for the Nutrition Facts Statement.
We recommend a one-ounce serving, which has approximately 12 calories for our
natural flavor and approximately 25 calories for our flavored foams. Remember,
Coffeehouse Classics™ FOAM! is fat free.
7. Is Coffeehouse Classics™ COFFEETAR Mocha
Blender™ a ready-to-drink mocha?
Now, how original would that be? No, COFFEETAR is a
combination
of everything in a mocha except for the milk. Just blend 2TBS.
of COFFEETAR into a cup of milk for the perfect mocha.
8. Why do your products seem to have fewer
ingredients than most food products from other manufacturers?
We believe that a certain number of consumers will choose a quality product over
quantity or gimmicky packaging. We are not trying to compete with Nestle Foods
or other industry giants. How could we? Instead, we’ve decided to serve
the more discriminating consumer. To finally answer your question, other food
companies use a variety of less expensive ingredients to replace fewer, higher
quality ingredients. A good example can be seen with COFFEETAR Mocha Blender™. To save money, many food companies would use high fructose corn syrup
to add sweetness and artificial chocolate flavoring to replace some of the cocoa.
We use only the finest ingredients because you’d notice the difference. |
